Biden's debate disaster is no surprise
Anyone who says “it’s time for Biden to step aside” is wrong. That time was long ago.
Biden’s performance at the debate last night is nothing new. He’s been like this for months and Democrats have not only ignored it, but actively attacked anyone who raised the issue. He struggles to speak with a teleprompter to think he would stand next to one of the most agile debaters in American history and appear in good shape was delusional.
I’m not surprised Joe Biden performed like he did. He’s hidden from public view, constantly making gaffes, and has demonstrated a clear lack of leadership and initiative. Biden has been unfit for the job for years. This is only a mainstream opinion today because not even the most loyal spin masters can make an excuse for last night.
While Democrats panicked, I’m not sure that causal observers of politics were all too surprised last night. Anyone without brainwashing allegiance to the party that has threatened and blackballed anyone in their ranks who questioned the presidents vigor and ability, have seen Biden in this state for years.
Will Bill Galvin disregard democracy?
Biden had a strong State of the Union, but not strong in comparison to history, strong when only compared to himself. He mumbled, sputtered, and gaffed his way through, just less than what was expected.
Democrats had months to have an election, they refused, attacking candidates like Dean Phillips and Marianne Williamson who did the unthinkable and challenged the octogenarian president. The two called for debates. They called for a democratic process. They called for president Biden to step aside. But he didn’t, and they were shunned, accused of helping MAGA. Now, if Democratic panic persists and Biden is cajoled into stepping aside, voters will have no say in who their nominee will be. For years voters concerns have been pushed aside, so that today, unelected party elites can put up an untested, undemocratic nominee. Democrats rhetoric support of democracy is only a facade. To call Trump the biggest threat to democracy and put up Joe Biden to fight suggests they don’t believe this threat is legitimate or they want to lose.
Democrats are hypocrites without debates
If Trump wins in November against Joe Biden, which the debate all but guaranteed, Democrats must take full blame. They did this to themselves.
Yes, Trump lied. Not a single person in the country is surprised. He’s built his career on lies and personal attacks. While he lied, he struck the right chord. Microphones being muted helped him appear civil. When he lied, Biden couldn’t interrupt, which he attempted several times and probably would have helped. While Trump flirted with the far-right, he made no major gaffes and stuck with a mostly issue based message, hitting hard on the economy and illegal immigration.
It makes you wonder why those closest to the president allowed him to go on stage? With the Biden team negotiating no audience, muted mics, and CNN hosts, did they think Trump would refuse, allowing them to allege he backed out? Or did the Democratic elites purposely make a fool of him in hopes of sending the shockwave to unlock the arguments not allowed to be uttered until today.
Shadow's of the 1980 Democratic primary
There must be an intra-party reckoning over what the Biden team did to their candidate, how they’ve disrespected voters, and paved a clear path for a dangerous second Trump term.
Jill Biden’s motivations and actions need to be questioned in the midst of this crisis too. She bares not only political responsibility, but moral. To allow her husband who, for all his faults, had a mostly dignified and respected career, to embarrass himself and every other Democrat, is an indication of not only neglect, but abuse for power.
Today, Democrats are left reeling to figure out what to do. The chaos that will ensue at the convention will be historic. Biden can’t be pushed through without a challenge as once hoped. Kamala Harris is the clear heir, but with weak appeal, others like Gavin Newsom are being called in. I wouldn’t be surprised if Dean Phillips and Marianne Williamson unsuspended their campaigns, though I’m doubtful either would successful.
Whether it’d Biden or another Democrat, it’s Trumps to lose. Any Democratic operative who says “it’s time for Biden to step aside” is wrong. That time was long ago. Democrats don’t deserve to win, and with the second Trump administration mounting such a threat, they have betrayed us all.
Zero surprise. Shame on him and those around him for putting America in this situation. Shore up your mutual aid networks, people.
